Trials For 2003/04 Season Are Now Complete

Our trials are now complete for Brighton & Hove Albion Girls Centre of Excellence selections in all age bands for the 2003/04 squads.

We had a record number of 222 applicants for places so competition for selection was extremely tough especially in the U14 age band where 135 trialists were chasing only 15 available places.

All players were recommended by their school or club as being of outstanding ability so it took something very special to shine and be selected in such company. The selection took place over four sessions and decissions were made through consultation with a team of coaches.

Naturally there are many disappointed players, parents, teachers and club coaches but players progress will be monitored especially through the three regional development centres at Crawley, Bognor and Eastbourne (contact Michelle Lawrence, Active Sports Co-ordinator for girls football - m.k.lawrence@brighton.ac.uk) and through any course or open session which the B&HA Girls Centre of Excellence put on throughout the year.

Congratulations to those who did gain places and we are looking forward to working with you and achieving a successful footballing experience for your all.

PLEASE NOTE - There is a new venue on grass for the first four weeks of the season (whilst there is still daylight): Russell's Camp, University of Sussex, main site, near the Sports Centre and Gardner Arts Centre. Click here to see a map. Training starts 1st September 2003.

To all players - have a rest from competitive football for a few weeks, keep fit with other sports and come back in September hungry for the game after a break or book onto the advanced course in Henfield for the last week of the holidays as a pre season warm-up!
Enjoy your summer holidays...
