Laminate flooring is based on a thin composite layer built up from several layers of impregnated paper to form the surface layer.
| The top layer is transparent and is specially treated to achieve high wear resistance (1). Underneath is a decorative layer that gives the flooring its wood-grain pattern (2). A moisture resistant interlocked high-density fiberboard (HDF) core that maintains the structure of each plank (3). A tongue and groove layer (4), and a bottom layer has a stiff paper-based material or a laminate (5).
The differences between manufacturers and their various products is down to the number of layers, but typically the thickness of this type of flooring is between 7 - 8mm thick. |

The introduction of the glue-free joints, so called click joints, in the mid 1990's has captured a substantial portion of the total laminate flooring market.
The above types of laminate flooring are usually laid on timbermate underlay, which consists of a foil backing and a foam centre.
We supply and fit a wide range of door profiles and skirtings etc. to complete the finishing touches.
